THE DISTRIBUTION ARCHIVE (MRTGXXXX.ARJ)
---------------------------------------
This archive should contain the following files:
MRTG.DOC - The complete program documentation.
MRTG.EXE - The Executable Program.
HISTORY.DOC - The program history.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
----------------
After listening to the same yell tune time after time, I decided
to do something about it. Since there were no programs out there
that would work, I had to write my own. This simple program will
automatically change the tune number in your eventsXX.bbs file
using a random tune number obtained from tunes.bbs.
INSTALLING MRTG
---------------
Installation is simple. Just add a call to MRTG right before you
call up Maximus. No command line switches are necessary, but if
needed three are available. NOTE: When you run MRTG for the
first time, run it from the dos prompt. MRTG looks in your
tunes.bbs file for missing or duplicated tune numbers and will
exit with an error message if it finds any. If you run MRTG from
a batch file, the error message may flash on the screen too fast
and then you'll be wondering why MRTG is not working.
COMMAND LINE SWITCHES
---------------------
There are currently 3 command line switches available for use.
The switch can either be a '/' or a '-'. Both are optional:
/tc:\max\tunes.bbs - This tells MRTG the location and name of
your tunes.bbs. The path is optional
and if not given will default to the
current directory. *NOTE* If you give a
directory name, you *MUST* provide a
trailing backslash!! If you wish, you
can also give a name with or without the
extension. If no name is given, then
the name TUNES is assumed, and the
extension defaults to .BBS.
/ec:\max\events00.bbs - This tells MRTG the location and name of
your events file. *NOTE* If you give a
directory name, you *MUST* provide a
trailing backslash!! The same defaults
and options as the tunes switch are used
except that MRTG defaults to EVENTS00.BBS.
/q - This puts MRTG into "quiet" mode. It
will not display the two status lines
that tell you how many tunes there are
in tunes.bbs and what the next random
tune is.
EXAMPLES
--------
MRTG - This will use tunes.bbs and events00.bbs in the current
directory.
MRTG /eevents01.bbs - This will use tunes.bbs in the current
directory and events01.bbs in the current directory.
MRTG /tc:\max\ /ec:\max\events01.bbs - This will use tunes.bbs in
the c:\max\ directory and events01.bbs in the c:\max\ directory.
That's all there is to it! MRTG is pretty forgiving when it
comes to the switches (I hope [grin]). So, MRTG /tc:\max\ and
MRTG /t c:\max\ will produce the same result.
